With the KBox B-201-CFL and KBox B-202-CFL models, Aaronn Electronic GmbH is offering two exceptionally powerful embedded box PCs from its manufacturing partner Kontron. With Intel Core processors of the eighth and ninth generation with up to six and eight CPU cores respectively and up to 32 GB RAM, they offer the performance required to reliably take on even demanding tasks in the video sector – but can also provide excellent support for innovative audio applications.
With the latest Intel processors up to i7 of the ninth generation, the models of the KBox B series from Kontron are also able to cope with demanding applications in the professional video and audio sector. In the area of control room applications, the KBox B-201-CFL can be attached to the back of a monitor with a VESA mount, for instance, and can process streams from up to eight connected cameras. Thanks to the particularly low-noise fan (less than 34 dB), use at desks is also no problem.
The KBox B-series is also ideal for counting large numbers of visitors or for quality assurance tasks in production, where video data needs to be processed in real time. “A field-tested application scenario is, for example, the use in combination with a UHD camera for the direct inspection of workpieces on the assembly line. After a visual inspection, flawed parts can be sorted out directly,” reports Siegfried Zidek, Product Manager at Kontron in Augsburg. Similar inspection scenarios are also viable in agriculture, where the Box PC could make decisions about the quality of fruit or vegetables or the ripeness of the harvest thanks to its high computing power in combination with smart cameras, even without a cloud connection.
Instead of cameras, microphones can also provide raw data, which is then analysed by the software on the KBox. In the area of predictive maintenance, the analysis of machine noises, for example, is a good option, where even minor changes can indicate impending difficulties or a need for replacement. This is because analysing sounds also requires considerable computing power – but this is now available.
As a long-standing system integrator for Kontron, Aaronn Electronics offers not only the standard models, but can also fulfil very individual requirements with a barebone concept based on the modular principle. These can be clarified in close cooperation with the software developers, even for small quantities, and the box PCs can be configured and customised accordingly.
Kontron KBox B-series – First choice for demanding IoT applications
The Embedded Box PCs of the KBox B-series from Kontron offer high processor performance in a compact format. The KBox B-201-CFL and KBox B-202-CFL are based on mini-ITX motherboards and integrate 8th or 9th Gen Intel Core processors. Thanks to the modular principle, Aaronn Electronic, as a long-standing Kontron partner, can tailor the Box PCs precisely to customer requirements where demanding software requires high computing power and the total cost of ownership (TCO) plays an important role.
With up to 32GB DDR4L memory, both variants can be customised for even the most demanding applications in the field of video and image analysis. One 2.5-inch and M.2 SSD each in the B-201-CFL model and up to four SSD drives with RAID function (B-202-CFL) provide sufficient space for the operating system, applications and data. The Embedded Box PCs are EN55032 Class B certified and are suitable for use in residential and commercial areas as well as for harsh environments thanks to an innovative fan concept with easily removable and washable metal grille. Both versions are designed for an operating temperature between 0 and +45 °C. The compact (190 x 60 x 190 mm) KBox B-201-CFL can be positioned almost everywhere with a VESA mount and mounting brackets for horizontal and vertical operation. The KBox B-201-CFL (90 x 120 x 190 mm) can be expanded particularly flexibly via two PCIe x8 cards or one PCIe x16 card.
