IoT gateways connect devices to each other or to the cloud. Their main task is to reliably transport data. In addition, they aggregate data from data acquisition applications, control systems and network applications. For this purpose, they provide the necessary interfaces and support standards for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). For use in harsh environments, they must be resistant to dust, extreme temperatures and vibration. Since they are also intended to transmit data from remote and difficult-to-access locations, wireless data transmission via WLAN or LTE and remote maintenance options are often important features.
