Our technology partner – Kontron, a global leader in IoT/Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), is expanding its existing 30 x 30 mm OSM portfolio with the OSM-S i.MX8M Plus system-on-module with 1.6 GHz Quad Core as well as an AI processor, 64 GB eMMC and 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM. This SoM is the first to offer the i.MX8M Plus processor with two GbE and two CAN interfaces in the OSM Size S form factor. The directly solderable module without connectors can be assembled, tested and programmed cost-effectively by machine.
Powerful and compact SoM for Industry 4.0 applications
The SoM is powerful, compact, cost-effective and the first module in form factor S to offer this wide range of functions. It combines all the advantages of the i.MX8M Plus processor and the OSM standard in the smallest possible space. With high computing and graphics performance and a wide range of communication interfaces, it is ideal for Industry 4.0 applications. The module features numerous digital I/Os and serial communication interfaces as well as PWM and two SDIO interfaces. It uses the latest processor and memory technology and is easily and quickly adaptable to individual board and application developments.
With i.MX8M Plus processor and TSN functionality for edge computing applications
The module includes a high-performance NXP i.MX8M Plus SOC with integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), a 2.3 TOPS AI processor. The i.MX8 application processor is part of NXP’s EdgeVerse™ platform, which provides scalable and secure edge computing solutions for high-performance edge applications in IoT and Industry 4.0.
The module also offers dual CAN interfaces and dual GbE for real-time control via the integrated Cortex®-M7 processor core. The LAN port supports the Time Sensitive Networking Standard (TSN) for real-time data transmission. TSN enables wired and wireless connections, such as the latest 5G cellular standard.
