Our technology partner Kontron, a leading provider of embedded IoT solutions, has introduced an innovation of the COM-HPC® server module, the COMh-sdIL. This module, equipped with Intel® Xeon D-1700 processors, offers outstanding scalability from 2 to 10 cores and is specially designed for robust implementations in extreme environments.
Compact design and robust construction
The COMh-sdIL impresses with its compact dimensions of 120 mm x 160 mm in “Size D small”, which makes it even smaller than the conventional COM-HPC® Size D design. Thanks to the soldering of all components, the module is particularly resistant to shock and vibration. The extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C makes it ideal for use in outdoor applications. The module also offers up to 64 GB of soldered DDR4 memory and an optional NVMe SSD with up to 1 TByte of storage capacity.
Powerful data processing and AI acceleration
With 32x PCIe lanes, including 16x PCIe Gen3 and 16x PCIe Gen4 lanes, as well as 2x Quad LAN interfaces that support up to 100 Gbit Ethernet, the COMh-sdIL offers outstanding data throughput rates for demanding I/O and network structures. The scalable performance of the module, complemented by AI acceleration with Intel® AVX-512, makes it the ideal choice for complex AI applications and edge applications in the outdoor sector.
Future-proof and complete system solution
The COMh-sdIL is characterized by a balanced functionality that is tailored to the requirements of the extended temperature range. Irene Hahner, Product Manager at Kontron, emphasizes long-term availability as a decisive factor in the embedded market environment. Parallel to the market launch of the COMh-sdIL, Kontron is working on a COMh/Server Application Carrier and a Board Management Controller (BMC), which together offer a comprehensive system solution for space-critical applications and harsh environmental conditions.
